Statement on fire, public safety and the Buildings Regulations Review
MIMA welcomes the review of Buildings Regulations but would like to see this review go much further and consider other potentially high occupancy buildings where speed of escape is likely to be constrained such as schools, hospitals and care homes and other high rise non-domestic buildings which appear to fall outside of the Building Regulations review Terms of Reference.

MIMA comments on the Energy and Climate Change report on home energy efficiency and demand reduction
Sarah Kostense-Winterton, Executive Director of MIMA comments: “It is extremely encouraging that the influential committee of MPs have recognised that making energy efficiency of our homes must become a key national infrastructure priority. It has long been recognised that investment in the fabric of buildings and in their energy efficiency has a positive effect on economic growth by increasing productivity and attracting investment, as well as providing public goods and boosting employment in the construction and other sectors. It is a strategic infrastructure need.”
