MIMA comments on the NAO report on the Green Deal:

“Whilst we must learn lessons from the NAO report, most importantly we must look forward and work hard with Government to enable it to deliver on its carbon emissions reduction commitments but also support them to keep the fuel poor warm and to enable us to improve our homes across the UK.

The NAO’s report places strong emphasis on the importance of continuing to improve the energy efficiency of our homes which can ensure that consumers improve health and wellbeing in a warm home.  Improving the energy efficiency of homes across the UK is the best way to protect consumers over the long-term from energy price volatility and from fuel poverty.

Our message is clear - to deliver these benefits we must make the energy efficiency of our homes a key national infrastructure priority. Within this context there has never been a more critical time for Government to take the lead, work with industry to realise this with a redesign of energy efficiency policy.

MIMA will continue to work closely with the Government to ensure that any future energy efficiency policy is cost effective. delivers for UK consumers and improves their homes and communities.”
